Somaliland has one of the highest maternal morbidity and mortality rates in the world. The lifetime risk of maternal death is 1 out of every 22 women.

With over 30 films in Somali, the work of Medical Aid Films supports the training, continued development and e-learning of nurses and midwives. Badra is one of them.

Badra’s Story:

From a rural village in Somaliland, Badra wanted to help her community

“In a remote rural area, where there is no hospital, no qualified professional, or a doctor or a nurse, yes, there is a danger to the [pregnant] women”

Six days a week Badra took a long bus ride to study
